How to Edit and Refine Your Looki Comics in Journal

Edit Looki comics right in Journal — remove a distraction, adjust the framing, or add something playful. Here’s how to make changes and return to an earlier version whenever you like.

You can now edit Looki comics directly in Journal. Choose a quick prompt or describe the change you want, generate a new version, and revisit earlier versions in Image history.

Whether you want to remove a distraction, improve the framing, or add something playful, start with a comic you already have and tell Looki how you would like it to look.

What You Can Edit in a Looki Comic

Looki provides quick prompts for common edits, from cleaning up the scene to making it more expressive. You can also write your own prompt to try a different idea.

Clean Up the Scene

Remove unrelated people, clutter, or foreground obstructions. This quick prompt asks Looki to preserve the main subjects, their actions, relevant objects, and the comic’s original visual style.

Improve the Angle and Framing

Ask Looki to straighten a tilted scene, correct an unnatural perspective, or adjust the framing to keep the main subjects fully in view while preserving the original content and style.

Make the Scene More Expressive

Try exaggerated reactions, surprise, or drama. This quick prompt can give subjects unexpected expressions and add expressive faces and hand-drawn limbs to objects, while asking Looki to keep the subjects recognizable and their actions unchanged.

More Ways to Make It Yours

The quick prompts are starting points. Write your own instruction to add a character, change the mood, or introduce a playful detail.

For example:

  • “Add a curious cat beside the woman reading.”
  • “Give the library a warm, late-afternoon glow.”
  • “Give the desk lamp a surprised face and tiny hand-drawn arms.”
  • “Add a small stack of floating books while keeping the woman and her pose unchanged.”

Name what you want to change and mention the people, actions, or visual style you want Looki to preserve. Start with one main change so you can review the result before making another edit.

Looki app screens showing an original comic of a woman reading in a library, an editing prompt to add a curious cat, and the edited comic with the cat beside her.

1. Open a Comic in Journal

Open the Looki app and tap Journal in the bottom navigation bar. Find the comic you want to change, then tap its image to open the detail page.

2. Tap “Edit image”

3. Choose a Quick Prompt or Describe Your Edit

Use one of the quick prompts above the editing dialog for a common change, such as removing distractions or fixing the angle. You can also enter your own request in the field labeled Describe what you'd like to change.

For a specific edit, try:

  • “Remove the person in the background and keep the bookshelves.”
  • “Straighten the image and keep the main subject fully in view.”
  • “Add a curious cat beside her, keeping her face, pose, and the watercolor style unchanged.”

4. Check Your Remaining Edits and Submit

The bottom of the editing dialog shows how many image edits you have left for the day.

Review your instruction and remaining edits. When you are ready, tap the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the dialog to submit your request.

5. Review the New Version

Looki returns to the comic detail page and displays Generating... while it creates the edited version.

When generation is complete, review the result to see whether it matches your request. You can download it, share it, provide feedback, or tap Edit image again to make another change if you have edits remaining.
